Each year the family goes up to the alpine pastures in Urnerland, graze their cattle on the fresh grass and turn the milk into Alp Cheese. This product may only be called thus if the cows are grazed on the pastures above 1500 metres. As the summer progresses the family and their animals move further up the mountain to more fresh new herbs and grasses growing higher on the slopes.

This book was published in 2003 but the work on it started in 1995 when I first met the family.
